You're wearing your fear on your face like warpaint You don't really want to be here do you But nobody would inform you of the fate Of pushing yourself past the boundaries So here we are play the notes sing the songs we create Nobody is gonna do this for you You're not really content just living your life Are you ever gonna break out of that shell Chorus: A thought doesn't matter unless you write a song I've a hundred of them floating around but they all just come out wrong Never looked at a thesaurus or tried hyperbole A rattled bird in a cage is all that you see when you look at me not sure if I can express sit down and take a breath you write a song and decide where the story begins and ends Been holding out for something else A moment that will never come Fear of myself Fear of the thought that I have nothing left to give I've given up on giving up I've thrown my hat into the ring It's not a challenge if you're not afraid of failing.

our garden is long overgrown Apathy the primary offender Oh pretender your colors have shown Through whitewashed exterior When did your flower begin to fade Leaves hanging limp in the summer sun So lethargic you're barely breathing Have you forgotten how to live Stand up straighten your spine You weren't meant to wither and die Oh tell me just who am I to sit here As the seasons pass me by small spark burns a great forest Oh I want to be that flame I'just looking for that ignition At the risk of singing an old cliche We must encourage each other Water gardens fan the flames Whichever analogy you choose The meaning still the same We have purpose beyond just existing So wake your brothers tell the world Of that great love that keeps breath in our lungs And our hearts still beating
